Morning Agriculture: Tyson Lobbyist, Scalise Critical After ‘Baseball’ Shooting — Commerce, Gulf States Extend Red Snapper Season — Second Court Win for Philly Soda Tax

TYSON LOBBYIST, SCALISE CRITICAL AFTER BASEBALL SHOOTING:The horror that descended on the congressional Republican baseball team’s practice in Alexandria, Va., shortly after 7 a.m. Wednesday wounded five people, two of them critically: Rep. Steve Scalise, the majority whip, and Matt Mika, a lobbyist for Tyson Foods. Scalise was hit with a single shot that pierced his hip, injured organs and caused severe bleeding. He underwent at least two surgeries. Mika, director of government relations for Tyson’s D.C. office, suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the chest. He was in the ICU at George Washington University Hospital following surgery. Mika is well regarded in food and agricultural policy circles, and a number of people in the industry visited the hospital, people familiar with the situation told POLITICO….
