HISTORIC POPE FRANCIS PSA ON COVID-19 VACCINES!

Amigos and familia,

As many of you know, we have been working on an important campaign in partnership with the Ad Council and COVID Collaborativecalled “It’s Up to You,”“De Ti Depende,” which includes educating and informing Latinos about COVID-19 vaccines.  We’ve worked with many of you on various parts of this campaign and thank you for your continued partnership.

As part of this effort, we are so thrilled to share with you a new PSA featuring Pope Francis and six Cardinals and Archbishops from North, Central and South America, with a message of unity and hope, to help instill confidence in vaccines all over the world.  The New York TimesTelemundo and Newsweek have great stories on this unprecedented initiative.

Please feel free to share with your networks far and wide!  Thank you all for all your work advocating for, protecting and speaking up for so many in our communities who do not have a voice and do not feel seen, and who have been hardest hit by this ravaging pandemic.

We have more work to do to get everyone in our community protected but together we can continue ensuring everyone gets the facts surrounding COVID-19 vaccines and spreading the Pope’s message of hope and unity for our communities.

Recent data shows that the United States has more progress to make with COVID-19 vaccinations in the country. Currently, 72% of the American adult population and 67% of Hispanic adults have been vaccinated against COVID-19 with at least one dose.

In addition, the Ad Council and other partners will be hosting a virtual event on Wednesday, August 25th, 5pm ET, with various medical experts, faith and community leaders to amplify this effort and drive further education on COVID-19 vaccines. Faith leaders include Rev. Dr. Gabriel & Rev. Jeanette Salguero, National Latino Evangelical Coalition.
The event will also include leading medical experts Dr. Ilan Shapiro, Pediatrician, Eileen Ortega, Walgreens Pharmacist, Dr. Adriana Nava, National Association of Hispanic Nurses, Dr. Maria Marquez, Mary’s Center, and Dr. Amelie G. Ramirez, Salud America. Community leaders include Rita Carreón, UnidosUS, Sindy Benavides, LULAC, Monica Ramirez, Justice for Migrant Women and Frankie Miranda, Hispanic Federation.
