am the founder of ExtraPortions and the endeavour is to close the gap between where is available and where food is needed.
During the COVID second wave in India , we used a volunteer based system and technology to quickly connect the COVID affected homes with volunteer feeding homes. The only thing that is needed now is structure and scale. I recognised a need which got amplified because of Covid, created the needed partnerships, and executed locally.
Now, am looking to scale and for that I need to get baseline data that tells you where the need is, where the need is already getting met, who is meeting the needs, where the vulnerable populations are, where new investments should be directed, etc.
Regional and national governments are working with fragmented datasets — the govts probably know their delivery points but typically are unaware of the ngos/private/religious/etc players.
Aid usually reaches not where it is needed but where it is convenient to provide.
A consolidated dataset would definitely be very useful. A brief experience using a platform approach with the underlying analytics etc can be had at https://hawkaidata.net/apps/ep/portal.html
