Protecting the Rights of Undocumented Workers

Michigan cannot function without the contributions of essential immigrant workers. The COVID-19 pandemic has revealed just how crucial the work is that immigrant workers perform every day in our state—both for our state’s economy and to put food on our tables.  If an undocumented worker is injured at work, they do not currently receive lost wages for the time they are unable to work. Unscrupulous employers, knowing they don’t have to worry about insurance claims, put undocumented workers in highly dangerous situations and then do nothing to assist when they get injured, or even killed. They treat undocumented, immigrant workers as disposable.
